Church History

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”   1 John 5:4

When we consider the word “birth” it denotes a new beginning or to become.  On March 16, 2008 Victory Tabernacle Church was born.

Monday, March 10, 2008 prayer warriors met to carry our case to God during a prayer meeting.

On March 12, 2008, a group of believers met at the home of Dea. McGarity to discuss the concerns of starting a new church.  On that same day it was decided upon by all members present who also extended the offer to Pastor Anderson, and he accepted the call.

Deacon and Sister McGarity met the owners of our first address located at 53 Golden South, and there we had our first place of worship.

On March 16, 2008, Victory had its first worship service.  There was a choir ready to sing, a pastor ready to preach, and a congregation ready to receive the word.  It would be on this day we received the name Victory Tabernacle Church.  The dedicated congregation teamed together and donated chairs, tables, desks, pulpit furniture and other things for the church.

Although our time at 53 Golden South expired, in 2011 the Lord blessed Victory Tabernacle Church to move to a new location, 119 Golden South Place.  It was there where we traded our chairs for padded pews.

In July of 2013, the Lord made provisions for the church to move to our current home of 6329 HWY 101 North.  Though the journey has not always been easy, we remained faithful and on March 10, 2015 God made it possible for Victory Tabernacle Church to pay off our mortgage.  Through the prayers, tithes, offering, and pledges of our members and friends God favored us.

During the years we have seen growth to the pastoral leader-ship:  Rev. Debbie Sexton (Executive Pastor), Rev. Shawn Christian (Father Knows Best Christian Ministries).

Those who have been licensed to preach under Pastor Anderson:  Minister Desmond Waller, Minister Kendrick Scott (Assembly of the Saints Deliverance Church), and Minister Thomasina Nicholas

who came and assisted the ministry.

We were blessed to have Sis. Julia Frances as our first musician, who also taught our next musician Bro. Aaron Anderson.  Rev. Pope later joined Bro. Aaron who turned things over to Bro. Justin Ferguson.  Minister Scott started on the drums and its now in the hands of Bro. Jaylen Johnson who continues to play with our current musician, Bro. Marsalis Hammon.

Ministries at Victory Tabernacle Church continue to work for our Lord through Deacons Ministry, Women’s and Men’s Ministry, Dance and Praise Ministry, Community Outreach and Church School Ministries.

We have lost a few charter members who have helped this vision come alive: Sis. Karen Dobbs, Sis. Gene Neil, Mother Kathy Anderson, and Deacon Moses King.  But, we yet rejoice because we find joy from 2 Corinthians 5:1 “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

Our God is awesome!  He answers prayers and has given life to Victory Tabernacle Church.  Let us continue to look to God to give us what we need to continue this journey.  We have adopted Isaiah 40:31 as the foundational scripture to solidify our past and strengthen our future.

 Isaiah 40:31

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."
